Ajay Jadeja, a former batting mainstay for India, has been going through a remarkable metamorphosis. He was recently elevated from being a cricket celebrity to assuming a royal throne on the occasion of Dussehra (October 12).
For those who were unaware, the royal family declared Jadeja to be the heir apparent to the Jamnagar throne. Notably, the well-known city has a long history and is located in the Gujarat state. As a result, it was said that the 53-year-old Indian cricketer had overtaken legendary batsman Virat Kohli.
Notably, it is estimated that Kohli has a total net worth of roughly INR 1,000 crore. Jadeja’s net worth has increased to INR 1,450 crore when she accepted the royal duties. According to the Freepress Journal, the erstwhile legend is now the richest cricketer in India after ascending to the kingdom.
The relationship between Jadeja and the Royal Family
Maharaja Shatrusalyasinh Jadeja, who is also his uncle, is the uncle of Ajay Jadeja. On the auspicious day of the Dussehra festival, he issued a press statement formally appointing the former as his legal successor. The Maharaja’s cousin brother is Ajay’s father, Daulatsinghji. Additionally, from 1971 to 1984, he held the position of honorary Member of Parliament. In reference to his marriage association, it is reported that he was married into Nepal’s royal family but later separated from them.
It’s interesting to note that Shatrusalyasinhji has a strong cricketing association. He captained the Saurashtra team and guided them through the Ranji Trophy season of 1966–67. In addition, he served as the head of the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA). After his father passed away on February 3 of that year (1966), he was also appointed Head of Nawanagar (Jamnagar). Amazingly, the family has a long history with cricket and it wasn’t only the current Maharaja.
Cricket’s royal heritage in the Jamnagar Family
Cricket has a long history and tradition within the royal family. Notably, the Maharaja’s family is descended from the renowned cricket player Maharaja Ranjitsinh Jadeja. Nawanagar was controlled by Ranjitsinh from 1907 till 1933. As a result, it is the pinnacle of cricket royalty and priceless heritage.
Ajay Jadeja, the well-known former middle order batsman for Team India, was noted for his aggressive and courageous style of play. During his career, which lasted from 1992 to 2000, Jadeja played in 15 Test matches and 196 ODIs for the Men in Blue. He was regarded as a clutch player primarily because, in addition to being a team finisher, he frequently saved India in dire circumstances.
