This was the second loss for Team India in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. At the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday, October 13, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team faced Australia. The Australians batted first and scored 151 runs in the first innings.
India lost the match by nine runs and suffered their second loss of the tournament after replying with a mere 142 runs. India has two victories and two loses after four games, which puts them in second position in their group.
India captain Harmanpreet Kaur took front stage following the defeat to discuss the game’s shortcomings for her team. She discussed how the players have played in several World Cups together, giving Australia a wealth of experience and a strong sense of cohesion.
“There is nothing that has been fixed. They are able to plan and execute based on the pitch and circumstances. The squad as a whole contributes, and they don’t rely on just one or two players,” Harmanpreet stated during the presentation ceremony following the game.
The fact that they didn’t give us easy runs, in my opinion, is what separated them from India. They certainly seem to have the experience. They have participated in numerous World Cups together. That always demonstrates their wonderful side, in my opinion,” she remarked.

Additionally, she and Deepti Sharma were unable to capitalise on a few loose balls that were presented to them, according to the captain of India. They could have also done a better job of managing the limits, she said.
In light of the circumstances, I believe we performed quite well. We were aware that this competition would be tough. At that moment, Deepti and I were unable to make use of a few stray balls when we were batting. The bounds could have been under our control.
