Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Aditya Sarvate Completes Brilliant Fifer Against Punjab

Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy 2024–25 first round featured more outstanding matches, and Kerala and Punjab’s match continued. For Kerala, the day turned out to be fantastic. Kerala was given the opportunity to bowl first in the match, and they bowled well both days. On both days, Kerala’s best player Aditya Sarvate  session was particularly noteworthy as he finished a fifer.

Aditya Sarvate dominated day 1 despite the rain, taking three outstanding wickets.

After choosing to bat first, Punjab collapsed to 62 for five before mounting a brief comeback to reach 95 for five at lunch on the first day of the competition. On the other hand, Sarvate, making his Kerala debut, played a superb game with the ball during the afternoon session.

Not only that, but he also improved upon his Day 2 performances. In his 30 overs over the course of two days, Aditya Sarvate claimed an amazing five wickets while bowling 12 maiden overs and giving up 59 runs.

After dismissing Abhay Choudhary to start his tenure, Sarvate also dismissed Naman Dhir, Ramandeep Singh, Emanjot Singh Chahal, and captain Prabhsimran Singh. Kerala’s ability to contain Punjab throughout the first two days was greatly aided by his spell. Punjab is within one wicket away from being knocked out after veteran all-rounder Jalaj Saxena claimed the final four wickets.

Kerala restricts Punjab to a poor sum

In Trivandrum, the match between Punjab and Kerala started with the visiting team winning the toss and choosing to bat first. Choudhary and Dhir scored 0 and 10 runs, respectively, to start the team’s innings. Prabhsimran Singh put 12 more runs on the board after Anmolpreet Singh left with a score of 28.

In addition, Ramandeep Singh scored 43 runs with the help of Nehal Wadhera and Krish Bhagat, who scored nine and fifteen runs, respectively.

Punjab have scored 180 runs at the end of the 77th over, needing nine wickets to win. Kerala’s outstanding ball-handling allowed the team to restrict Punjab for the most of Day 2. On the second day at Stumps, with Mayank Markande and Siddarth Kaul at the crease, the visitors are reeling at 180 for 9.
