An unexpected recommendation has been made by former India selector Jatin Paranjape about the bowling lineup for the country’s forthcoming trip of Australia later this year. He feels that the current form should take precedence over previous results.
India is preparing for a difficult five-match Test series in Australia after winning the Test series 2-0 against Bangladesh. For India’s ultimate position in the World Test Championship, the tour is essential. The team is well aware of the task they will face despite their recent success down under.
Paranjape also discussed Mohammed Shami’s questionable level of fitness. According to him, India should choose between Jasprit Bumrah, Siraj, and Akash Deep if Shami is unfit. But he believes he would choose Akash Deep over Siraj to be the third pacer after Bumrah and Shami if Shami was available.
“Siraj would undoubtedly move up to second fast bowler behind Bumrah if he (Shami) is not well. If Shami is not available, Akash Deep will take the third bowler role. It is my belief that India would field Bumrah, Shami, Siraj, Akash Deep, and Mukesh Kumar as their five fast bowlers for this tour. Arshdeep and one or two other quick bowlers will be their backups, too, Paranjape informed Times of India.
India’s 16-man roster includes Jatin Paranjape.
In addition, Paranjape highlighted performance in the present over prior accomplishments in Australian settings, which he feels ought to be the criterion for selection. He went on to describe the possible makeup of the squad.
