Rashid Latif backs Babar Azam to return to form after captaincy resignation

Star Recently, Pakistani batsman Babar Azam announced his decision to relinquish his captaincy for the second time in ten months. Babar left the position as a result of Pakistan’s poor results in the past few months.

While many view it as a bad point in Babar’s career, former Pakistani cricketer Rashid Latif suggested that the ace might perhaps benefit from this. It’s important to note that Babar has only been able to maintain an average of 34 in 22 appearances in 2024. Latif believed, nonetheless, that Babar Azam would be able to return to his best when the weight of captaincy was lifted off of him.

“Babar finally realised what was right, if belatedly. You have always been on your toes thanks to Muhammad Amir, Azam (Khan), and Imad Wasim, who played the World Cup (T20) like they wanted to. They have since vanished. Now that the pressure of captaincy is lifted, Babar’s moment will come, Latif tweeted.

Remarkably, in spite of his difficulties. As the captain, Babar Azam appeared to have a solid track record. Babar guided Pakistan to 84 victories and 50 defeats in 148 games.

He ruined a lot of things, give others a chance: Rashid Latif

Rashid Latif also discussed how Babar Azam led Pakistan at inappropriate times and even admitted to instructing star batsman Mohammad Rizwan to give other players a chance to lead the team instead of vying for captaincy. It is noteworthy that in the two Test matches in which Rizwan has led Pakistan, the team has lost.

Two World Cups passed, and a lot of things were harmed by him (Babar). At the wrong moment, he desired to be captain.

I shall so counsel Rizwan to “no way” (i.e., to not become a captain). Allow others to have a chance. “You were not awarded captaincy when you deserved it,” Latif said.
