Recently, former England cricketer Mark Butcher spoke up about his feelings on the country’s decision to leave pacer Ollie Robinson out of the Test squad. Butcher revealed that Robinson’s lack of selection was the result of a betrayal of confidence between Robinson and the management.
It is noteworthy that Robinson has been excluded from the team’s forthcoming visit to Pakistan and has not played in any of England’s six Test matches during the domestic season. England will play Pakistan in the first game of the series starting on October 7 at Multan.
Speaking candidly about Robinson’s absence, Mark Butcher stated unequivocally that Robinson possesses the ability of a premier bowler. But in his opinion, there is no turning back now that the 30-year-old and the management have lost each other’s trust.
“Robinson’s bowling ability is undeniable, and I’m very certain that this isn’t the reason he’s currently out of the picture. I believe that the management and he no longer have mutual trust. The covenant of trust between those folks and the player has almost completely collapsed, based on what I’ve heard and believe to be true, Butcher stated on the Wisden Cricket Weekly podcast.

Butcher also emphasised how the administration would have no trouble placing all the responsibility on Robinson. He also discussed the players for England and their recent release from more authority. Ben Stokes, though, has collapsed, according to the former England cricketer, and Robinson and Brendon McCullum’s leeway.
“The management would firmly place the blame at his door; he may respond to that, but that is essentially it. There’s no doubting the stats or his ability.

However, the management gives the England players a great deal of latitude when it comes to their trust, and he seems to have betrayed that trust too many times for both Ben Stokes and Brendan McCullum, which has put him on the outside, he said.
