Rajeev Shukla says Indian government will decide if India travel to Pakistan for Champions Trophy

Vice-president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India Rajeev Shukla has opened up on the matter by offering some clarification on the matter, since there has been a cloud of ambiguity around India’s participation in the Champions Trophy 2025, which would be held in Pakistan, for quite some months now.

In response to a question on whether India would visit Pakistan in the upcoming year, Shukla revealed that the Indian government would make the final decision.

“On it, no decision has been made. However, it is our policy to always obtain official approval before embarking on any foreign excursion. The government has the last say on whether or not our team travels to any nation. We would follow the government’s decision, Shukla said, as reported by The Indian Express.

He further stated that the International Cricket Council has not set a timeline for the BCCI to reach a decision.

Rajeev Shukla discusses the IPL 2025 mega-auction.

Additionally, the former Indian Premier League chairman provided some semi-concrete information into the mega-auction of the league’s 18th season.

“We are deciding on the location; the IPL auction will probably happen around the end of November. There are no restrictions on where the auction can be held—in India or outside. It happened in Dubai the last time. Such events are far more enjoyed by people overseas, Shukla continued.

Regarding India and Pakistan’s cricket match, the two teams have only recently played each other at international events. Actually, India hasn’t visited their bitter adversaries since before the dangerous 2008 Mumbai terror strikes. Pakistan only made the trip to India for the 50-over World Cup last year, and that was seven long years ago.

Many former cricket players have recently discussed this topic, and the main thrust of their views has been to avoid combining politics and sports.
