VVS Laxman sheds light on India's women's training for WT20 World Cup 2024

The United Arab Emirates is set to host the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 starting on October 3. In the T20 World Cup, India’s women have never triumphed. They nearly won the championship, but Australia outperformed them in the 2020 edition final. This will be the ninth edition, and according to former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman, the players’ level of preparation is extremely intense.

The India ladies were hosted by Laxman, the Head of the BCCI Centre of Excellence, at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru as they got ready for the big game. In addition to receiving mental training from sports psychologist Mughda Bawre, the athletes also received physical fitness.

VVS Laxman emphasised this very point and mentioned that the players are doing everything in their power to win the championship.

The level of devotion, focus, and fervour with which they train and get ready is unparalleled. They prepare in a way that makes me very proud. It was a fruitful camp, and Amol (Muzumdar), the head coach of the women’s team, had structured it such that he concentrated on the mental and technical components of the game during the first part of the camp, according to Laxman, who was cited.

Following a pause, they returned to concentrate on the game’s tactical and skill elements. Not only was it limited to nets, but they also engaged in five matches in which Amol presented the players with a variety of obstacles and circumstances,” he continued.
