Arun Singh Dhumal and Avishek Dalmiya join IPL Governing Council at BCCI’s 93rd AGM

Arun Singh Dhumal and Avishek Dalmiya join IPL Governing Council at BCCI's 93rd AGM

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) held its 93rd Annual General Meeting in Bengaluru on September 29, 2024. Leading the meeting was Jay Shah, the honorary secretary of BCCI. Ashish Shelar and Roger Binny, two important members of the management team, were also present.

The key decisions made are as under:

(a). The following two representatives were elected to the IPL Governing Council:

  1. Arun Singh Dhumal; and
  2. Avishek Dalmiya.

b). At the AGM, Mr. V. Chamundeswarnath, who was nominated by the Indian Cricketers Association (ICA) as a player representative, was admitted to the IPL Governing Council.

(c) The General Body approved and passed the audited accounts for FY 2023–2024.

(c) The General Body adopted the FY 2024–2025 Annual Budget.

(e) The IPL Governing Council’s proposals regarding the player auction cycle of 2025–2027 were accepted. This covered clauses about wage caps, the right to match, and player retentions, among other things.

The General Body members expressed their gratitude to the office bearers for their efforts in the work related to the Center of Excellence, the new National Cricket Academy campus.

(g)Every member voted in favor of keeping BCCI’s official society status. The members also decided against turning any of the BCCI’s competitions, including the IPL, into a business.

Doors open for MS Dhoni’s one more year with CSK

The IPL 2025 edition’s retention guidelines were made public by the IPL Governing Council on Saturday.

Along with allowing for up to six retentions, the release signaled the reintroduction of the RTM (Right To Match) option for franchisees Avishek Dalmiya

Interestingly enough, Chennai Super Kings star MS Dhoni might be selected by the team for yet another season as an uncapped player with to the extra provision, even though just three to four retentions were anticipated.
