IPL 2025: Ashish Nehra, Vikram Solanki expected to continue at Gujarat Titans

For the forthcoming Indian Premier League season, the Gujarat Titans are anticipated to remain under the direction of head coach Ashish Nehra and director of cricket Vikram Solanki. Torrent Pharma, an Ahmedabad-based business, is reportedly in talks to purchase the majority of the franchise.

Several adjustments were anticipated during the relocation, one of which was a shift in the coaching staff. It has been revealed, nevertheless, that Nehra and Solanki will continue to be in control for the 2025 edition even if the agreement is finalised.

Notably, following the conclusion of the most recent season of the lucrative league, Ashish Nehra contract with the team expired.

Since then, a number of teams have reportedly enquired about hiring him, but the former cricket player has chosen to stick with Gujarat. Gujarat finished second in 2023 and first in the championship in 2022 under his leadership. Following Hardik Pandya’s trade to the Mumbai Indians, the 2024 edition didn’t go well because they had to rebuild their team in the next mega-auction.

The remainder of the Gujarat coaching staff is probably going to stick around in addition to Nehra and Solanki. The club will be hoping to sign a successor for the departing Gary Kirsten, who was the batting coach until he joined Pakistan. A handful of Gujarat’s first-choice players are also in discussions with other teams over possible moves in the mega-auction.

Retention guidelines to be announced soon by BCCI

According to, BCCI will shortly make the retention rules public. Right now, each team will probably be able to keep five players—two foreigners and three Indians. There have been rumours that Right To Match (RTM) cards might be provided, but BCCI eliminated them before the mega-auction in 2022, and this year is probably going to be no different.

The retention policy was not discussed during Wednesday, September 25th’s virtual meeting of BCCI’s supreme council.
