Twitter Reactions: Georgia Wareham's overall performance helps Australia clean sweep New Zealand

Australia Women took on New Zealand Women in the third T20I of the series at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane on September 24. New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first. Suzie Bates (19 off 17) and Georgia Wareham (53 off 48) put up a decent 45 runs at the end of the powerplay.

The New Zealand batting lineup was devoid of firepower after the top three batted back into the hut, as the remaining batsmen found it difficult to hit boundaries. Brook Halliday and Sophie Devine left with two and five points, respectively. With Maddie Green still undefeated after 12 balls in five sets, the visitors could only produce 146/6. Both Georgia Wareham and Annabelle Sutherland contributed two wickets apiece for Australia.

Georgia Wareham then paired up with Amelia Kerr (40 off 36) to stitch a 73-run stand for the second wicket

Australia lost Beth Mooney (6 off 6) in the fourth over while chasing. On the last ball of the seventh over, captain Alyssa Healy (27 off 29) did the same. A partnership between Georgia Wareham (26 off 160) and Elysse Perry (36 off 29) was underway when the former was removed from the game. After Perry and Ashley Gardner joined forces, the hosts were nearly done, putting 137 runs on the board in the 19th over, when Gardner left.

Tahlia McGrath (6* off 3) persevered through to the finish and arrived at the goal with a buffer. In the final over, Australia claimed a five-wicket victory. Australia won the series 3-0 thanks to Wareham’s all-around performance with the bat and the ball, earning her the title of Player of the Match.
