Indian chess team recreates the well-known "Rohit Sharma walk" after Olympiad victory

On June 29, after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados, Rohit Sharma and company made history in the West Indies. Everyone’s attention was drawn to Rohit’s celebration after the victory, as he mimicked Messi’s well-known FIFA World Cup walk. The Indian team performed the same at the 45th Chess Olympiad in Budapest.

The gold medals won by the Indian men’s and women’s teams at the 45th Chess Olympiad made history. The renowned “Robotic Walk” of Rohit Sharma was imitated by both teams. The same video is being extensively circulated and growing viral on social media. In the medal round, the men’s team defeated Slovenia, and the women’s team defeated Azerbaijan to win gold.

In other news, the Indian squad is off to a great start in the Test series against Bangladesh. They prevailed by 280 runs in the first Test match held in Chennai. On September 19, they will play the visitors in the second Test at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium. Thanks to the massive efforts of Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant, India set a lofty goal of 515 ahead of Bangladesh, which they were unable to meet.

R Ashwin, a local, was unstoppable in the opening Test match. He amassed an incredible hundred runs in the first innings and took six wickets in the second, earning the title of Player of the Match. Ashwin’s 37th Test fifer and sixth Test tonne came from this match.
