Rishabh Pant made a resounding comeback to Test cricket after almost two years. He last played for India in whites back in December 2022 but a horrible car crash meant he was ruled out of all action for more than a year and a half.
But in the opening Test match against Bangladesh at Chepauk, the southpaw looked excellent and scored his sixth Test century on September 21. It hardly seemed like he had left. His batting left former cricketer Ajay Jadeja in admiration as he produced his trademark unconventional shots.
The Indian colonies cricket is a globally recognised sport since, according to cricketers, that is where they all began. Conventional methods like as timing the ball rather than hitting it and keeping the bottom hand relaxed and elbow high won’t be used. Jadeja noted that the wicket-keeper batter is incredibly responsible and compared this to every facet of Pant’s cricket game.
It appears that Rishabh Pant is carefree and doesn’t give his game any thought when you see him. However, it is evident from his playing and speech patterns that he is a reflective player. Speaking to Colours Cineplex, Jadeja stated, “If you recall, prior to his injury, he was almost next in line to lead India. He got injured and was out for close to 600 days.”
“He takes chances, so sometimes you question if he’s accountable or not. He plays his game quite responsibly, in my opinion. He has undoubtedly fallen a little behind in this one year while others have advanced, but he is the kind of player that brings the whole squad with him. “This guy plays cricket in the colony the same way you play in a test match,” he said.

Pant also tied MS Dhoni’s record of six hundreds in Test cricket to rank joint-highest among Indian wicketkeeper-battlers in terms of most centuries. Pants scored 109 runs from 128 balls, smashing 13 boundaries and four maximums.
