After his Player of the Series heroics against Australia, Liam Livingstone is now the top-ranked men’s T20I all-round player. On the strength of 124 runs and five wickets in the two games played, with the Old Trafford final being washed out, he has dethroned Marcus Stoinis by moving up seven spots.
He relished the opportunity to put together an innings, and with a decisive 87 off 47 balls in Cardiff, he helped his country level the series.
After being deployed as a finisher in the T20 World Cup earlier this year, Livingstone moved up to No. 4 in the England order for this series.
“My responsibility is to perform to the best of my abilities and cause them some trouble in the upcoming series,” he declared following the first Twenty20 International, in which he amassed 37 runs and took 3 for 22 in the loss. “I don’t believe anyone will want to bat lower in the order.
“I am interested in that duty. The further up the order you are in the standings, the greater opportunity you have to accomplish my goal of winning cricket matches for England. There are fewer people who can fill that position [at No. 6], so sometimes you just have to accept it. But now’s my opportunity to make a statement.”
Two times, England overcame quick starts from Australia thanks to his bowling, which proved to be equally significant as he forged an essential spin partnership with Adil Rashid.
Because of his performance, Livingstone was called up to the ODI team to replace the injured Jos Buttler for the five-match series against Australia.

Other places In two innings during the series, Travis Head scored 90 runs off just 37 balls, solidifying his position as the top batsman. Spinners occupy the top six spots in the bowling rankings as Adam Zampa moved up one spot.
