Bangladesh changed their thinking and improved with experience: Wasim Jaffer

Starting on September 19 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, India will welcome Bangladesh for a two-match Test series. Before the first Test match against India, the Najmul Shanto-led team, who just won an away series against Pakistan, would be brimming with confidence. Their bowlers were outstanding against Pakistan, but their hitters have made tremendous progress in red-ball cricket. They now have the confidence to defeat India because Shanto stated that he wanted to defeat the hosts in both Test matches.

Former cricket player Wasim Jaffer observed that when Bangladesh’s players gained experience, their perspective changed and they improved. He thinks their confidence increase has been greatly influenced by their series victories over Afghanistan and New Zealand, as well as their away victory in 2022. Jaffer continued, saying that the squad has been well-led recently by experienced players like Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim.

“I think their perspective has shifted. Even at home, they prefer to play on fast-moving, bounce-filled fields. Fast-moving, lively surfaces were used for their win series against Afghanistan, which featured standout performances from Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain. And from then on, I think there’s been a tiny change in thinking that they won’t win with spin alone, Jaffer told Hindustan Times.

As they gained experience, they improved. They have a reputation for playing well in Bangladesh, but they have also been touring the country lately. In 2002, they triumphed over New Zealand at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui, and they also defeated Pakistan in Pakistan. They have had some success away from home in limited-overs cricket. Many seniors are there to mentor them. Jaffer continued, “Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan have been there for a very long time.

Bangladesh arrived in India on September 15. But after playing in the county tournament for a few weeks, all-round player Shakib signed on to the team on September 17.
