‘The broadcasters amped up the stump mic’ -  Aakash Chopra reveals the Australian media's in the 2018-19 incident

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra recently came up to criticize the Australian media after he brought up an incident from the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2018–19 that involved Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja. India prevailed by 31 runs in Adelaide in the opening Test of that series.

In addition, Chopra related the incident from the second Test in Perth, where Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja got into a furious argument.  Aakash Chopra claims that in order to improve public hearing, the Australian media boosted the stump mic throughout the event.

Videos used to be released by them (the Australian media). When Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja got into a furious argument while standing in the 30-yard circle, they did it right in front of me. The broadcasters began verbally insulting each other, so they turned up the stump mic. In front of me, they clipped the tape and gave it to the press. Aakash Chopra stated on the 2 Sloggers YouTube channel, “After that, when we were talking off the pitch, I was like, ‘What are we actually trying to achieve because it’s nothing.”

He also disclosed that Ricky Ponting, a former Australian batter, appeared on television with him and expressed the opinion that the occasion was being overstated. He also discussed how, despite having said something else earlier, Ponting attacked the Indian side as soon as he had the microphone.

“Then Ricky (Ponting), who was present with us, said, ‘They’re making a big deal out of a small issue. Ponting remarked, “I was shocked that he had just said something else a few minutes back. He tore into the Indian team the moment he went on air.”

India prevailed 2-1 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2018–19.

Australia levelled the series with a 146-run victory over the visiting team in the same Test in Perth, which marked the beginning of the end for India. But in the third Test match in Melbourne, team India staged an incredible comeback, winning by 137 runs. Moreover, India was proclaimed the 2-1 victors of the series as the Sydney Test was drawn.
