Great England batsman Jos Buttler has been going through some difficult times. Buttler has been out since the 2024 T20 World Cup semifinal match against India in the West Indies due to a calf injury, although he is currently rehabilitating. Harry Brook will lead England in their five-match ODI series against Australia in Buttler’s place.
Jos Buttler has been working diligently to improve his fitness and get ready for the next tasks as part of his rehabilitation process. In a recent interview, Buttler discussed a number of topics, including the selection of Brendon McCullum to lead England across all formats. It is noteworthy that McCullum has so far only served as England’s Test team coach. McCullum recently discussed Buttler’s injury issues and expressed his opinion that the star hitter occasionally seemed unhappy.
“I noticed that [McCullum’s comments]; it’s ironic! We’ve had some great conversations, and I can’t wait to collaborate with ‘Baz’. I’ve always looked up to him as one of those players. Being the all-format coach is fantastic for English cricket given that he’s had such an impact on the Test team, Buttler told TOI.

A lot of cricket players wanted to be involved and have an impact on the game with both the bat and the ball even before the ‘impact player’ rule was implemented. Cricket teams have always relied on all-rounders to extend their batting lineup, add balance, and offer a variety of bowling options. All-arounders are essential, not optional. Multiple skill players are a big plus. I am aware that some believe the “impact-player” criterion in the IPL devalues the all-rounders, but they still contribute greatly. They’re necessary to keep the other side in check, Buttler added.
