'Going to be pretty exciting to watch two of the finest players of our generation' - Glenn Maxwell on Kohli-Smith show in forthcoming BGT

Former Indian and Australian captains Virat Kohli and Steve Smith are among the most aggressive batsmen to be found at the wicket, especially in red-ball cricket. Because of the intense competition one places on the other, their intense rivalry hasn’t stopped them from complimenting one another for raising the other’s game.

During a recent conversation, Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell expressed his excitement for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which is slated for later this year. He also shared his thoughts on the crucial element that, in his opinion, might tip the scales in favour of their respective countries.

“I believe that the head-to-head match between Virat Kohli and Steve Smith, two superstar hitters, will have a significant impact on who wins the Border-Gavaskar Trophy because of how their dominance is likely to be expressed throughout the series. It will be amazing to watch the two best players of our generation go head-to-head, and one of them is going to make a lot of runs, if not both of them,” Maxwell said in a recent interview with Star Sports.

Beginning in November 2024, BGT

The first game of the much awaited five-match BGT series is scheduled to begin at Perth Stadium on November 22, 2024. In the interim, the Indians will have five Test matches to get ready for the challenge in Australia.

However, until the start of the series, the Australians will not play any red-ball games going forward. In actuality, their most recent Test match was actually the series’ second and last matchup with New Zealand.

The Indians are a serious contender, even though Australia is the early favourites due to their superiority in home Test matches. This is especially true given the outcomes of the last two Australian series. Australia will be itching to prevent India from making it three straight wins, while India will be anxious to turn the tables.
