In a recent interview, Deep Dasgupta complimented Dhruv Jurel on his batting style and his poise at the crease. When the Border-Gavaskar Trophy starts later this year in Australia, the former Indian wicketkeeper-batter believes Jurel might perform well.
On Sunday, September 8, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed the 16-man team for the opening Test of the two-match series against Bangladesh. After nearly 21 months, Rishabh Pant returned to the red-ball setup, and Yash Dayal received his first call-up to the format. After making an impression on both fans and pundits during his first series against England earlier this year, Jurel was able to maintain his position. With the addition of KL Rahul, Jurel becomes the team’s third wicketkeeper.
I wouldn’t be shocked if Rishabh, Dhruv Jurel, and KL all participated. You also need to remember about the Australia series.
Dasgupta, though, thinks there might be an opportunity to use all three wicketkeepers in tandem during the first Test, which gets underway at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium on Thursday, September 19.
“Rohit, Yashasvi, and your XI will open. No. 3 is Shubman, and No. 4 is Virat Kohli. KL Rahul is ranked fifth. Rishabh Pant, ranked sixth. Perhaps you could then play a different batter. Jadeja and Ashwin are in positions 8 and 9. Following that, you have two seamers in nos. 10 and 11. I’ve seen recently that a lot of batters have taken to bowling in the nets and other similar activities. Dasgupta told India Today, “If you want, you can go in with four bowlers and your part-timers can give you a few overs.”

Sarfaraz is a possible candidate for the middle-order position. Dhruv Jurel played wonderfully at bat, too. Yes, the former cricket player turned analyst said, “You can also consider other options, but given his style of play, technique, and poise, I believe Dhruv is a better batsman in Australia than some of the other newcomers.”
