Khaled Mahmud Sujon, director BCB, resigns his post

Khaled Mahmud Sujon, the director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), announced his resignation on Wednesday, September 11. In addition to his current position as BCB Director, he chaired the Game Development Committee. The 53-year-old served as the Cricket Operations Committee’s vice president in addition. His resignation coincides with the country’s political unrest changing the landscape and affecting cricket as well.

A few BCB officials experienced a cascading impact, which includes Sujon’s resignation. Previous resignations from their positions were made by former directors Jalal Yunus and Naimur Rahman Durjoy. Sujon’s departure marks the third resignation following the political upheaval in which Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the nation due to her perception of a public outcry.

The Daily Star said that a BCB official who wished to remain anonymous said that Sujon emailed the BCB president regarding his choice.

As the new president of BCB, Faruque Ahmed has publicly called for systemic change and committed to enacting it. Papon was the longstanding head of the organization. He also took a strong stance against Chandika Hathurusingha, the previous Bangladeshi coach.

“I was against the system and had previously resigned from my position as a selector. Right now, I want to build a system that can efficiently run the board. Regarding the specifics of the agreement with Chandika Hathurusingha, I am unsure. I’m still at the same spot as previously. Faruque had declared, “I won’t keep Chandika if elected as BCB president. I haven’t deviated from what I said.”

Bangladesh is eager to tour India.

The Bangladesh men’s cricket team has been playing well despite the unrest. They most recently won a two-match Test series against Pakistan in Pakistan by a score of 2-0.

Buoyed by their newfound confidence, they now play India in a two-match Test series that will begin in Chennai on September 19 and conclude in Kanpur on September 20.
