Prior to the Indian Premier League 2025, former cricketer Aakash Chopra recently shared his thoughts on which players Royal Challengers Bengaluru should hold onto in light of the upcoming mega-auction. While Chopra stated that RCB’s first tournament retention will undoubtedly come from star batsman Virat Kohli, he expressed uncertainty over the team’s future under coach Faf du Plessis, who has guided the squad for the previous three years.
He calculated that the former international player for South Africa is already forty years old and might not play for another cycle, which is probably going to last three years. In addition, Chopra stated that he would prefer for RCB to keep Cameron Green, who performed admirably for the Mumbai Indians in the 2023 Indian Premier League and fairly well for the Bengaluru-based team in 2024. Since acquiring Indian pacers is never simple in the IPL, Chopra also wants RCB to keep Mohammed Siraj.

It’s a significant question. For what length of time do you wish to keep Faf? In a video posted on his YouTube account, Chopra stated, “Not sure.”
“I’ll hold onto Cameron Green if I have the chance. If I let Mohammed Siraj leave as part of the retention, I won’t get too many Indian fast bowlers in the auction,” the 46-year-old clarified.
I would let go of Aakash Chopra, Glenn Maxwell
According to Chopra, if Rajat Patidar is acquired for a low price, RCB need to attempt to hold onto him. He would not, however, be in favor of keeping Glenn Maxwell for the upcoming campaign. During the 10 IPL 2025 matches, the Australian international managed just 52 runs in scoring. Chopra wants RCB to break up their relationship with Maxwell because he was once even left out of the starting lineup. But when it comes to the shortest format, he is confident in Maxwell’s abilities.

I will state that you are a really excellent player and that’s sufficient, but it’s alright. I would like to look elsewhere. I might so part ways with Maxi,” he remarked.
