Afghanistan discusses plans for domestic cricket during the most recent ACC meeting in Kuala Lumpur

The member nations of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) convened under the direction of Jay Shah, the outgoing secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and the president of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Securing media rights for events scheduled for 2024–2031; 2024 ACC tournaments; and the addition of additional nations as members were the subjects of discussion at the September 11 meeting in Kuala Lumpur.

In addition to discussions with other nations, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) representatives stated during the meeting that they would like to organize significant ACC tournaments. The chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the ACB also talked on the timely scheduling of the upcoming series in Afghanistan. The schedule for the upcoming events included in the schedule, where each member nation has the chance to realize their full potential, were also scheduled for 2025 and 2026.

Afghanistan uses the ACC meeting to its advantage for future cricket matches.

For those who do not know, Bangladesh is the first foreign nation to visit Afghanistan as part of an all-format trip. After talking about the next series for a while, the BCB gave a positive response.

The topic of cricket’s potential debut at the 2026 Asian Games was also brought up. The applicants for membership from the Philippines, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan were also assessed by the members.

Given that their concerns were discussed by the main cricket boards, Afghanistan appeared to have benefited much from the conference. A degree of cooperation across boards from various nations was also advocated by the ACC to its members.
