IPL 2025: 3 players RR may decide to hold on before the mega-auction

The Rajasthan Royals (RR), the first Indian Premier League (IPL) champions, have done a good job lately, frequently making it to the playoffs. Under Sanju Samson’s direction, they won eight of their fourteen games to place third in the group stage of the 2024 competition. They had a thrilling start to the elimination stages when they overcame the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by four wickets in the eliminator, but they were crushed by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Qualifier 2.

With the mega-auction quickly approaching, the Royals must make important decisions about player retention. Every decision will be crucial to the BCCI’s future success because their retention policies have not yet been decided. Let’s take a look at three players who RR might decide to hold onto before the IPL 2025 super auction.

Here are three players that RR could target ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction:

1. Sanju Samson

Sanju SamsonSanju Samson, the Rajasthan Royals’ captain, is now essential to the group’s success. He has become the team’s mainstay thanks to his incredible growth as a leader and batter. Samson has also played a key role at No. 3 in terms of batting and his ability to keep wicket.

He scored five half-centuries and 531 runs in 15 innings the previous season. The team’s success has been mostly attributed to his capacity to maintain composure under duress while exhibiting aggression when necessary. The Royals will once more rely on Samson’s performance and leadership since they see his potential as a long-term asset.

2. Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi JaiswalIt is probable that Yashasvi Jaiswal, a youthful Indian opener, would also be kept by the Royals for the next campaign. Jaiswal has improved the franchise tremendously after making his debut for the national squad. Along with his exceptional fielding and occasional spin bowling, his aggressive approach at the beginning of the innings is vital to the side.

The team has faith in Jaiswal because of his capacity to quicken when necessary. He made a half-century and a century against the Mumbai Indians in the previous season, amassing 435 runs in 15 innings. In the hopes of seeing similar or better results in the future, the team is anticipated to keep spending in Jaiswal.

3. Trent Boult

Trent BoultIn the next big auctions, the Rajasthan Royals are probably going to keep their star pacer, Trent Boult. Boult has been a vital member of the team since coming in 2022, taking 45 wickets in 41 games across the course of three seasons. With 16 wickets in 15 innings during the previous season, he had a very strong showing.

Boult is a dangerous bowler because of his ability to maintain outstanding line and length while swinging the ball both ways. Making an impact early in the game, the Kiwi pacer took 12 wickets in the powerplay.

The left-arm bowler will be expected to spearhead the bowling attack and secure vital wickets for the team once more. The management of the team will be looking for a repeat performance from their seasoned pacer in this edition.
