The West Indies have released their 15-man team as well as the coaching and support staff, just under five days before the two-match series against South Africa gets underway.
including a few changes from their recent tour of England, they have kept much of the same squad, including vice-captain Joshua Da Silva and captain Kraigg Brathwaite. Alzarri Joseph, their regular deputy captain, isn’t playing since he’s been rested. Their goal will be to play better than they did in their last series, which resulted in a 3-0 loss to England.
The following players have been named for the series against the Proteas but were not included in the England tour: Jomel Warrican, Bryan Charles, Justin Greaves, and Keacy Carty. Carty and Charles have not yet played in a red-ball format, however Greaves and Warrican have both played for the Men in Maroon in two and fifteen Test matches, respectively.
Head coach Andre Coley expressed his delight with the squad’s selection, highlighting the thoughtful combination of returning players and newcomers to maximise performance at the two distinct Test locations. He also stated that Alzarri had chosen to take a vacation from his recent heavy workload, feeling certain that this would enable him to recover to full strength. Coley also mentioned that Kevin Sinclair, the off-spinner, was currently recovering from an injury.

The team we have selected for this series is a well-rounded blend of youth and experience, carefully chosen to optimise our performance in Trinidad and Guyana’s climate. Alzarri Joseph, our vice captain, will not play in this series. Alzarri has been working really hard lately, so this break will help him recover and go back to his best. According to Coley, Kevin Sinclair is now healing from an injury.
