Karnataka increases compensation from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 25 lakh for the families of Bengaluru stampede victims.

An increase in compensation for the victims of the fatal stampede that took place during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) IPL 2025 victory celebrations near the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru has been announced by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. About eleven people lost their lives in the tragedy, and numerous others suffered serious injuries.

According to Siddaramaiah, the relatives of the deceased will receive ₹25 lakh instead of ₹10 lakh. He stressed that no family will face problems because of financial limitations and that the government is supporting the impacted families during this trying period.

The compensation offered to the relatives of those killed in the Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede has been raised from ₹10 lakh to ₹25 lakh each, per my directive. Our government hopes that families who have lost loved ones won’t have to deal with more financial difficulties,” Siddaramaiah wrote on X.

Due to poor communication and ineffective planning, the Bengaluru stampede happened on June 4 during the RCB’s IPL 2025 win celebrations.

Poor crowd control and insufficient police presence swiftly turned what started out as a happy event into a deadly one.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda was suspended following public outcry. Two high-ranking officials of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), Secretary A. Shankar and Treasurer E.S. Jairam, resigned on June 7 as a result of the incident.

The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) one day before to the internal meeting. According to KSCA President Raghuram Bhat, the investigative authorities have not yet been in touch with the association. He added that they are ready and willing to work together if needed.
